Black Copper Sexlink Marans are a proprietary Heritage/Hybrid Cross, high production, dark brown egg layer.  These Marans will have dark legs, May or may not have feathered legs and the amount of copper markings on their chest/neck will vary from hen to hen within the breed.  Some hens are nearly completely black, and some are very brassy on their breast.  Often, hens will have beautiful lacing on their feathers and a purple or green iridescent sheen across their backs.  These Marans are a very Hardy breed and do well in all climates.  These birds are athletic and take to foraging and free ranging more than other breeds but also do well in confinement.  Furthermore, this is an active, quiet, breed with a docile temperament.
The Black Copper Sexlink Marans will lay a dark chocolate brown to speckled brown egg and lots of them.   The Eggs our Marans lay have a gorgeous, orange yolk, clear egg white, and truly taste as good as they look.  If you are looking for a high production bird, which lays a lot of dark brown eggs, and are also great foragers, these are the birds for you!
